on y fait quoi ? .

Goals of the workshop

A relaxed and smooth introduction to the world of improv theater, learning the basics,
building worlds and stories. Building a group, learning to let go, to accept offers and say
"yes".
A body and mind workout: rediscovering your body and voice.

Workshop syllabus

We will work on the following key notions

> Letting go, accepting offers and saying "yes"

A body and mind workout: rediscovering your body and voice. Having fun with emotions.
Anything is possible, anything is allowed.

> Group

Learning to have fun as a group, learning to laugh at your own expense, and to laugh with
others.
Listening to yourself and listening to others.
Confidence in the group will help with you own confidence: if you "fall" they will "catch" you.

> Building a world, building a vibe

Spatializing : the actor owns the space, they may use it but they are also responsible for it.
They must use it knowingly, to create an environment in an invisible space without "breaking" what they have already "put" there, using mime and sounds..
Environments, vibes, worlds , changing places, skipping ahead in time.;
Creating environments through the relationships between characters.

> Building characters

The basics : building a character (visualizing and getting in touch with a character.)

> Building story

Story structure. Exercises on accepting and on the audience's expectations ;

Learning about comedy tropes. ;
Improv formats beyond "cabaret" ;(quick paced/short form/lots of laughs), long form improv based on character.

> Giving your partner material

Enriching your partner's character, inspire them : "Have you been working out?" --> I look fit

> Platform

Essential building blocks to start a scene.
A platform needs to be set up : who are we to each other ? where are we ? What's the situation ? This is needed for the audience to relate.
Once the platform is stable, a problem can emerge to create a story.

> Showcase at the end

The workshop will end with a little show with an audience of your close ones, free of charge, so that you may show them what you've been learning.
